pigeon ideas

ive got some wood pigeon breasts. Id like to cook them on my next outing, using only natures ingredients. anyone got any ideas?

Just quick fry them in a bit of butter,lovely meat

crush wild garlic bulbs and rub into the meat and cook on skewers over the coals like a kebab, delicious in a flat bread or with a bannock

Whatever you do don't overcook it, liking the sound of wild garlic, you could add a wilted salad of the leaves of that and some dandelion leaves too perhaps? Just be sure to harvest from above the Alsatian break.

Whatever you do, they're best rare, and give them time to relax after cooking. Pigeon is so underrated it's ridiculous.

Treat as little fillet steaks on a grill or Kebabs as above.

Nice rolled in oatmeal/oats (you can add some wild herbs if you like) and sautéed quickly. At this time of year when fresh tender leaves are coming onto the trees you can make a little salad to go with them.

Cooked in embers wrapped in lots of ramson leaves gives the pigeon the taste of the ramson but not too strong like the leaves and put that in a wild salad 👌 my favourite way

Always worth bearing in mind too, that no matter where you are, something always falls from the sky. Rain, bird droppings, fuel dumped from aircraft, paras dumped from aircraft - none of which you want on your food really. Always worth washing it properly, however, on regular dogwalking routes or environments its worth avoiding the bits likely to get heavy soiling simply down to the concentrations.

I've found the Paras tend to toodle off for miles after hitting terrafirma. Unless something bad happens. Top blokes.

Quite possibly so... However, I still wouldn't want to eat one, or even try come to that.
