Pie Irons?

I have a Diablo, it's fine but they're a bit thicker for cheese toasties than I like. Haven't tried them on pie fillings etc yet. If you touch the metal (they're a pain to undo so this happens often) prepare a set of expletives in advance.

I've had a couple over the years. I don't think the pressed steel ones are much cop - too easy to burn stuff. Had a cast alu one which was very good. Rome irons have a good rep. but I haven't used one. I'd think CI would be ideal.

Coincidentally, I just came across this. What works in a waffle iron probably works tolerably well in a pie iron also. Alternatively, you could invest in a small waffle iron to accompany your pie iron. Waffles always go down well.
