So, I'd seen lots of good things said about these here and elsewhere but also seen many comments from those who said that they were expensive for what they were. It seemed to be a hell of a lot to pay for a small coin light.

I figured that I would just buy lots of cheapie coin lights so I could distribute them around my kit and always have one to hand.

A couple of months later, I came across another mention of them on here whilst at my laptop, with Amazon on another open tab and somewhat inebriated (a dangerous combination!) and thought 'ah well, pffff... why not'

Have to say that it's one of the best purchases I've made. For a simple thing it's beautifully thought out particularly in terms of the modes, which I wish functioned in the same way on all my torches (quick press for full beam, hold down for lowest then continue to hold to get progressively brighter etc) mean that you never destroy your low light vision with an accidental full beam switch on (and means that it can turn on low enough that I can use it to read in bed with my (so light sensitive I assume she's a vampire) lady.

The method of clipping onto the necklace or clip attachment works very well too - it's easy to unclip when you want to but doesn't feel like it will accidentally come free.

It's actually replaced my little EOS i3 as my EDC as its bright on full beam, it's small enough to wear around your neck or on a keyring without taking up too much room and the batteries are so thin that I can fit a spare set in my credit card holder.

Already started giving them as presents

No connection to co. etc etc. just been very pleased with what I initially thought was another ill advised late night pressing of the 'buy' button :)

Been using these for years......no other brand comes near....highly recommended. The green one is excellent for navigation.

Got one around my neck all the time, don't even notice it untill you turn in on. And have to love the modes and infinite variable brightness.

Yep, these little micro lights are awesome. These are all I use as a body/hat worn torch when Bushcrafting. I use a CREE lantern hung up for area illumination and a Photon Freedom for wandering around outside of that light. You can adjust it easily on the ingenious ball swivel clip so you don't dazzle people but it can light up everything in your path when navigating a wood. They are really bright, function packed and weigh zip! The dimming control is great. They come in loads of LED colours as well. I'd be lost without one of these when catering at the Bushmoot. It makes a great hammock light too.

If a few people want them then I could do an 'at cost' group buy of these for £11.50 delivered. LED colours: White, Blue, Green, Night Vision Green, Red, Orange, Yellow. http://www.photonlight.com/pages/Photon-LED-Beam-Colors.html

I bought one as a result of this thread. Maybe I got a duff one, but the battery only lasted a fortnight, with hardly any use (I think it may have been activated in my pocket perhaps). Thankfully, Amazon are good with returns and even gave me a fiver credit as an apology.

under a tenner on amazon uk for green and red and free delivery if you spend over £10. white is dearer on amazon though.

Now those are a bargain as long as you want two to save on the postage. I say buy'em and give one away as a prezzie! Dare I say Christmas is approaching?! :christmas2: I must say I prefer the ordinary white light but the NV green is bright and funky and the red does preserve your NV as well as acts as a good night light (even lasts 10x as long!). Red is better to use as a night time pee light as it doesn't mess up your circadian rhythm or melatonin secretion. Well spotted there Paul.
