Thanks for all the replys, sorry I joined the conversation so late, I was on my way back from Zurich last night so I didn't have an internet connection.
I guess the law is not black and white as per usual, I think I'll go with the Opinel 5 for an EDC to be on the safe side. I still fancy a friction folder though, brilliant design.

I think the Opinel #5 has a lock so it's no more legal than a peasant over 3".
There is a non locking version of opinels 2 - 5, so I've gone for that.
It is easy to pop the lock off any oppy![]()
i reckon i'll cheat and buy a svord to reverse engineer it ,...
then put one of my own together based on what i find,..,...for what they cost nowt to spoil really
