A small (2m isn) Papuan carpet python had been hit by a vehicle on one of the bush roads near where i'm working in PNG. The big sea eagles you get around here had yet to do their worst (most snakes don't last long all the big ones within hours are a heaving mess). They are really beautiful snakes and you can see where the name comes from, they are non aggressive and not poisonous. It seemed such a waste so managed to get a decent length after skinning and prepped the skin. Turned out really well for a bush job was well happy i managed to keep the hornets and wasps off it and the end result is really soft. A dam sight easier than deer or sheep trust me!

PS hi guys its been a while

Indeed a very beautiful animal I would of much rather taken photos of it alive and well. i wouldn't have been so happy to see a Papuan black snake whilst tramping down that road though. Very unfortunate and there must only be 2-3 wagons down/up this road a day. Not sure I'll make anything with it, if it comes home with me it will just go in the display cabinet with the rest of the bits and pieces from my travels and previous expeds.

Yep still very much around John, just not much in the UK at the moment. The canoe hasn't been wet for a long time, other than the rain!
