Fair enough. i bought my self a trangia kettle for over the fire use. so far its been good.

The wife loves glamping and from time to time a stove or heater of mine takes her eye, she loves Trangia kettle's, they are 'cute', I agree and of course with the wide lid they very easily double as a cooking pot :)

At the moment I'm just holding back from hitting the buy it now button on these

eek, did it survive okay?

Comfortably, but I only ever boiled up with it. Never any sustained boils for snap ;)
I don't know about build quality these days, but mine must be going on 8yrs old and has had some heavy use.
I reckon one of the linked kettles would be sound. I wouldn't want to leave one on red hot coals though.
