On August 28th and 29th, Otley Amateur Radio Society (OARS) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a Special Event Station and a full weekend's worth of activities. (http://www.otleyradio.org)
We've tracked down a couple of founding members but we're convinced that there are others out there we haven't yet been able to find.
Were you one of them? Do you know anyone who was - or might have been - an early member of OARS.
We'd love to hear from - and see at the weekend - any former members and, in particular, any founding members.
The Shack at Clifton Village Hall on Newall Carr Road, Otley will be open to the public from 09.00 - 17.00 on both days. The venue will be hosting a special event station, using the callsign GB0ORS.
In addition, the society will be operating the GX3RCM mobile promotional unit on the Chevin above Otley (due to be in The Royalty public house car park, by kind permission of the Landlord, Danny). Danny is a good guy and the pub is well worth a visit, particularly if you have any sort of interest in aviation, as there are splendid views into Leeds/Bradford Airport. The food and drink are good too!!
There will also hopefully be some SOTA activation(s)
Please get in touch with any information or queries. (or email info@otleyradio.org)
Best Wishes,
David, M0HLL
