I've just upgraded to the same set up but with Blu Ray at £450.:C
This is a Panasonic home theater sound system, 1000w. Plays DVD, CD, MP3 etc. it has a HDMI conection and Optical in port. Model SC-PT850.
The surround sound of this system is superb, real Pro Logic sound. Extemely loud if thats what you like.
Six speakers, Two front (left/right), Two rear (left/right), front speaker and base box. the large floor standing speakers can have their bases removed andthey then halve in size and can be mounted to the wall.
Comes complete with all speaker cables, remote control, 5 meter gold AUX cables. You will just need a HDMI, but doesnt need it as it can run off Scart., but then you wont get the 1080p image quality on the screen.
You can just run this as a sound system/stereo it doesnt need connecting to a TV, in a workshop/garage etc. Also has radio function.
This cost me around the £450 mark also around 4 years ago. The sound of my new one is no better it just plays Blu Ray.
£80, trades if that helps but it will need collecting from Staffs, I can drive a few miles to meet up if that helps..
