Quick question - is an opinel flat ground or convex?

Cheers for correcting me then Matt, i'm guessing after the sharpening that mines had that is definately flat now then, cos i've been treating it as such.

Yeah, I would describe it as a very shallow convex also, must get another as I haven't had one for years.

I tend to put a very small secondary bevel (flat) on mine - helps reduce edge rolling.

The convex is very slight (you can see it if you put a straight edge on the blade of a number 12, but it's hard to see it with the smaller sizes).

I must admit that I sharpen mine to a micro secondary bevel using a sharpmaker - it seems to give a slightly stronger edge.
