One nighter in the woods - pic heavy

Hi guys,

Had a short one nighter in the woods with a mate last night.

Turned up at one of my regular haunts to fine rubbish, broken glass, toilet paper on the trees and signs of a bonfire!
I hate the sort of yobos that do this but 10 minutes later it was back to almost pristine conditions.

As we had done time on our hands and the local forestry mob had done some tree felling we built a sort of sofa using an auger and dowels.

We spent a bit of time making a spade which I have posted about in the DIY section and using some of the logs we set up a little home from home.

Had a nice little fire for cooking sausages and some bannock and I got to use my "dragons breath" kit from mr Fenna for the first time in anger and managed to get a fire going with just flint and steel! :)

Cheers guys, I think the best bit for me was realising just how easily char cloth catches a spark (it took 2 strikes max).
I actually lit about 5 bits in the end just to make sure the first wasn't a fluke.

Next step will be trying to reproduce this with natural tinders found in and around camp!
Should make for an interesting, and frustrating, summer.

Cheers, Hamster

Looks a good night out, well done on the fire lighting! Does give a proud moment.
Thanks for sharing.
