AAA powered or 10440 rechargeable.

When you say “similar size” do you mean length and diameter or just length? Obviously you can get more run time in the length by going to a fatter battery, which is what I would do.

What is your intended use case? Carry every day for looking into dark places, walking the dog at night, stashed in the car or an emergency tool kit, light camping?

TBH the stated runtimes are pretty good for an AAA torch. Would you be using AAA, rechargeable NiMh (LADDA, Eneloop), or 10440 Li-ion?

I only use AAA on a little Skilhunt E3A on my keyring, it runs 100lm for an hour and helps find keyholes or things in the back of a cupboard. Anything that needs a longer runtime has a bigger battery.

AA size is a significant step up. I'm using Vapcell F15 Li-ion batteries which have a 1500 mAh capacity and now trust my small torches to complete a dog walk without dimming down and off.

Lumintop Tool AA might be worth a look, runtimes are good, and I'm pretty sure the battery has a usb-c socket built in. If not, these are available to simplify charging.

For a useful and small AAA torch I like my little Ledlenser P3 Core torch. It's the older 90 lumen torch but the focussing system seems to work ok giving a sensible throw and it claims it'll run for 3 hours on high. I've not tested it but the battery does seem to last a long time.

It seems to be being sold off cheaply now, I've seen it for £8 at Screwfix and on offer elsewhere.

Worth reading the reviews as it might not suit everyone. It always comes on at the lowest setting and the on switch needs a good push, both ideal for me.
