Hi,
I always were fascinated by the "greenriver" knife, and today I received this J. Russel & Co Green River knife.

Don't know much about this knife, just that it's slighty used and appears to be resharpened few times, though you could be interested. If someone may help me to indicate the years of which was done I really appreciate.
Few infos by the net:
" Russell® Knives originated from J. Russell & Co. in Massachusetts in the early 1800's. Early J. Russell & Co. Knives were tang stamped with the trademark "J.Russell & Co American Cutlery". After some early successes and some natural disasters at their manufacturing facility, a new state of the art factory was built. The J. Russell & Co. then started using the tang stamp "J.Russell & Co. Green River Works". Thus, the legend of the Green River Knife was born. The knives were known for such a high level of quality, that other American, German, and even manufacturers in Sheffield, which were the benchmark for quality during that period, tried to copy the Green River Knife. They even went as far as to tang stamp their own knives with the Green River name. The Green River Knife became a favorite of emigrants, buffalo hunters, Indians, miners and settlers.
Today, the Russell® name carries on the tradition of quality. Now manufactured in Solingen, Germany, the traditional styles of the Russell Green River Works knives continue to deliver the highest quality knives at reasonable prices."

This knife is stamped Made in USA, so I think was done before the brand move to Germany. It's also stamped Stain Free so approx. was done after the '20 for sure, I guess on '50 or '60, but who know exactely, maybe it's just modern?

Anyway a nice addiction, the wood handle it's solid, brass pins are right in place, the handle it's too much squared but safe on my feeling, don't know the steel (would like to know).

Hope you enjoi,
ciao, Alfredo
