Odd shaped spoon

So I just finished this spoon today and thought I'd post it. It's kind of an odd shape overall but and not sure what use it'd have but hey I made it out of a scrap piece of wood I had. It was oiled with raw linseed oil.

I like the curving spiral. How long did that take to make ?

I'll keep those uses in mind I think it only took 2 hours in total but I didn't do it all in one go.

Would have had a use for it in the clubs I frequented in Stockholm in the 80's ....

I was halfway through a spoon when I was inspired by your odd shaped spoon to try something I had not tried before



Not bad for my first attempt at a double spiral, thanks for the inspiration it was fun to do, going for a tooled finish but not finished yet like

Yeah it's nice to just let the ideas flow and see what happens

Should have took some step by step photos but basically I start at the bottom of the handle and use a pencil to draw around the wood making sure the spacing is roughly the same, I'll rub out bits if they are too off by a lot and redraw. Then I'll cut inbetween the lines and cut the tall parts of the spiral round or you can leave the squared off for a helix look. After that I basically sand and for inside the spiral I'll use something round like a pencil and wrap the sandpaper around that. Next time I'll make a post about it.
