Surprised no one has chipped in here yet, but I'm sure help will materialise on the day Greg.

I 'm still a TBC but will assist if I can make it.

There should be some of that ivy nicely dried for a hearth board.

can bring some fire stuff in and talk about it a bit, I am not the best in wet conditions and I have been seen people who can do it no matter what conditions they have been in, I am not that good at it but practice always improves technique and the chances of success.

Thanks Pete, it sounds as if Cheryl and Alison (and probably Others) are looking for guidance and technique, after which success will depend on effort. If you or anyone else has the time this will help them out. I have done this before but not enough to make me a teacher, I will be happy to gather the bowdrill materials and tinder though
