Wind chill is an issue any time of the year when sitting around the communal fire of an evening. A while back I suggested that as there is plenty of coppiced Hazel in the wood, making a couple of hurdles would help deflect the wind.
well that didn't happen, but in conversation with Martin and Karl at White Rose Wood recently, I have decided to copy their idea of constructing a more permanent structure. This will take the form of 6' upright posts sunk in the ground at 4' intervals around part of the chute perimeter. These will be Infilled with smaller interwoven branches effectively forming fixed hurdles.
so, anyone willing to lend a hand in this will be welcome, as will small spades or folding shovels. This heat retention project will benefit all of us at some time, so collectively it won't take long if you get my drift!
Steve, what is access like for a big zero traction van like mine at the moment? I have resigned myself to parking by the toilets as last time I had to have a tow off Sal.
I will take a look Thursday and let you know mate, or ask Johnnyboy1971 John, he is arriving Thursday. depends when your coming down though, things change quickly! if it does look a bit wet, can I suggest you do a steady 3 pointer on the hard dirt track at the end of the hardcore road so your facing for the off. leave enough room for traffic to get onto CP2 though
nice one John, got a few things to do but I will try and pop in today. just a reminder to everyone, parking if possible will be on CP2, and we are in the new centre pitch.
Due to car still failure I will be coming on the Saturday and heading back on Sunday. I have my stuff for a little talk and bringing a few bits for sale. I am not fully certain on how I am getting there but I will get there.
