North Wood Farewell Meet 26 -28 June 2020

Hi folks this will be the last meet at North Wood. Sadly we have to say goodbye to this exceptional ancient woodland in the name of 'progress'. We have had many happy times here making new friends and sharing skills over the last 11 years.

However it is not the end of our meets in the Midlands! We will step seamlessly into our new venue Lords Wood! This is located less than 10 miles away from our current woodland with wonderful views over the Warwickshire countryside. Details here.This woodland hasn't been managed for a long time, and it will take a few meets to establish a proper base camp so bring plenty of cutting tools!
I will add all the relevant site details soon, I look forward to many more meets over the coming years.

In the meantime, add your name to the list below and I hope to see you one last time at North Wood.

So this date is 2/3 week's before the Mrs gives birth so depending on how she is feeling it will be either me, or all of us, or maybe none at all.

Well if she does go over and you decide to attend Mike, couple of things in your favour. I used to work on a farm, so lambing, calving....generally helping the vet. I was a cutter / boner for a chain of butchers at one time so accurate knife work sorted. If a C section cut and repair is needed, did I mention I was on deep sea fishing trawlers? and of course mask and gloves are a given, so should be ok mate.

Back on topic, I have been thinking of getting a firesteel, can anyone spare some flint by any chance? I have no idea where to get it from.

Thanks for the offer pieinthesky but I guess I am seeing this message too late, yes I am in Wellingborough. I can wait it's no problem, at least I know your close by if I can't make the meet. Was planning on heading into Salcey forest this saturday for an overnighter if your up for that?

Yes, I was out at 08:30 - early these days.

I would normally be up for an overnighter but am still trying to stay as isolated as possible (I work with the elderly mostly).
Fist trip is likely to be with my daughter - some time soon - Yay

I have never thought of Salcey, we were planning a trip to Hazelborough in Silverstone or a canoe trip to an Island we know on the Nene.
