hi guys, kinda new around here, my names ed, I noticed this as its fairly local for me, I've recently joined the forum as I'm rekindling an old love for bushcraft after taking a "camping" break to bring up my young family (5+3 YO old boys) who have taken to the outdoors in a big way! anyway, are newbies aloud?

thanks Karl, yes by all means come along Ed you will be made most welcome, as are family groups if you wish. :) you have picked a fine month to come along with all the bluebells about to flower! just add you name to the list if you wish to come along.

If you copy the last version of the list and paste it into your reply, then add your name with eg "+2" if you're bringing your lads, and "fri night only" or similar, you're in- its the nights that are charged for so it just helps the organiser, Woodspirits, keep track :) The TBC on some of the list is 'To Be Confirmed'. It's a lovely welcoming meet for new members and their Younglings :)

JohnnyBoy, might you be bringing down the parachute you might have for the communal areas? I have a 20ltr bottle to mix DIY fabsil in and a water butt we can use to dunk it in but theres a few issues... firstly if the weather isn't dry for the weekend, I don't think it will dry off- secondly there may be an issue with trampling the bluebells so we might have to hang it over a path. I think the DIY mix would need as long as possible to dry so it would be a thurs or latest friday start to the job :) I managed to source a mango sauce container like the existing communal storage barrel but unforunately its nowhere near big enough for my chute so probably won't do for yours either!

What do you think? Leave it till another meet or get it done asap- and are you happy for it to be DIY fabsil, I can't afford to contribute the real stuff unfortunately ;) I won't be attending until Oct after the Bluebell meet, but will probably be trying to get my chute proofed over the summer, the water butt will be available after then :)

Has anyone else had experience with proofing chutes? Any dos-and-don't hints n tips please?!

ls

cool, I can make a sloppy mess with mine over the summer :) (I note that White Rose has just done their chute and used approx 10l of fabsil, thats banging out at about £60- best price I could find was at Tamworth camping direct, I don't know if we need the more expensive better waterproofing of the Gold fabsil though)- I believe the DIY version is 3 to 1 white spirit to silicone, I'll price it for posterity sometime else ;)

PS can I come too, ive fallen off the list ;)

RRIris,

I was made most welcome at my first visit, that was a year ago been going back ever since, good safe group.

thanks Graham,:) RRIris yes of course your most welcome, it will be a nice relaxed meet. keep your eyes open for the odd impromptu demo, well it starts out as some poor bloke having a quiet practice, which soon draws a crowd! :D

Sally! get your bottom back on the list!
