Surgery not happy with my Diabetes (I feel fine! But of course that isnt good enough).

So, am trying to eat better.

Without a lot of the stuff I love.

Has anyone some Low carb No carb recipes?

(I have already experienced the trauma that is Cauliflower rice...)

Are you looking for lower carbohydrate intake or to eliminate as much carbohydrate from your diet as possible?

Do you have T1 or T2 diabetes?

Do you know your body fat percentage?

What is your lifestyle like? (Sedentary/low activity/moderate activity/very active)

Do you have allergies?

Do you have physical disabilities that affect your normal human movement?

Generally, a lot of people benefit more from drastically reducing their sugar intake rather than focusing on carbohydrate reduction. The human bodies needs carbohydrate to operate, it doesn't need refined sugar.

In normal circumstances quite so. Most of us can survive ketosis and even function reasonably well but that is apparently not what we are really "designed" for. Almost everybody can drop sugars without harm.

I listened to a lecture on human diets of the past....and the lecturer brought out a brush shaft. Then said something along the lines of that this was what our ancestors would have had to chew to extract as much sugar as an average modern human ate in a day, or one cup of soda/pop.

It stuck with me. I eat a fair amount of fruit, but refined sugar ?

It's refined sugar that does the damage. And there's refined/processed sugars in nearly everything that comes in box from the supermarket nowadays.

Bread has added sugar.
Tomato ketchup has added sugar.
Tinned food has added sugar.
Prepared meals have added sugar.

Most people know that a can of regular Coke has something like 34g of refined sugar in it, but there's hidden sugar is loads more stuff that most people are unaware of.

Thinly shredded white cabbage makes an ok substitute for noodles. But everyones tastes are different.

if you are T2 - get a continuous glucose monitor. You can get a free sample of the freestyle Libre from Abbott. Gives great insights to how particular foods affect your blood sugar.

Well, I am surviving.

Sweet potato as a substitute for spuds

Konjac noodles (and rice)

Lots more meat and veggies.

anyhow, try this.

1 egg
2 oz ground almonds
half an apple, grated (or for the savoury, carrot or courgette)
teaspoon olive oil
pinch baking powder
pinch nutmeg or ginger

mix together in mug and microwave 2 minutes.

(Havent touched bread in over a week)

I feel a bit better.

Sweet pots seem to vary a fair amount for GI.
