I also have one of the original Peltonen knives - based on a bayonet - but although I love it the M95 is better balanced and better steel (or treatment). The Peltonen story goes from good to better... so the carbon/wood cannot be far off
My Finnish is non-existent and the suggested film didn't appear to show the knives' handles being put on at all. However, I am prepared to believe your assertion and so stand corrected. I would say that my understanding of the term 'full tang' in relation to knives means that the steel of the cutting tool is visible between the slabs of the handle and shaped to follow the handles contours. On my M07, no steel is visible, though I am sure that it is not far below the surface. It probably has a similarThey are full tang. Watch the video below showing production. From 1:26.
The technical point of view is that when tang is about the same width as the blade and it goes about the full length of the handle, meaning they are about equal strength and stiffness. Stick tang is most of the time considerably narrower, as always there are exceptions.my understanding of the term 'full tang' in relation to knives means that the steel of the cutting tool is visible between the slabs of the handle and shaped to follow the handles contours.

After going back and forth between the options I've just ordered one in stainless steel with the orange handle and a black composite sheath.
All else being equal I tend to prefer stainless steel and this looks like it should be a very robust, low maintenance knife.
I think "full tang" is almost meaningless.
You could have a full tang knife with the steel showing between the scales, but put a longer and thicker moulded handle on and suddenly it might not be full tang. The blade will be just as strong though.
I can't find the pictures for the life of me, but those I've seen suggest these knives are full tang and the newer "full tang" models have exposed tangs.
I own an m95 (the longer version with rubber handle). Has anyone had issues with the handle coming loose? I have been relatively easy on it with minimal batoning and honestly not that much use but the handle has probably a quarter inch of up and down play. If so any recommended fixes like epoxy or something?
Love the blade but the loose handle is a big bummer.
Are you sure they don't make them anymore?@Dr_Rez When have you purchased that M95? They changed the rubber material as the knives werent made any longer by Mr. Peltonen but by Lamnia.
Yes, Lamnia and Peltonen are both companies of Mr. Juha Ikonen, located at the same place in Lapeenranta. Are you sure they don't make them anymore?
Length of the tang. They have a 10 year warranty
By up and down do you mean along the length of the tang, or edge to spine?
Looks like I got it in July of 2024 but no through Lamnia. Ill try to upload a picture but perhaps it was in part because I sanded the handle smooth to get the grooves out. Maybe thats a no no for these blades. It wouild be odd though because I have done the same with many other significantly cheaper blades (cold steels for instance) and it was never a problem.@Dr_Rez When have you purchased that M95? I own several Peltonen-models and really took them for hard work, never had problems with the handle coming loose. That was a big problem at a Rokka Korpisoturi i had once

I think this is pointless after the handle has been altered, any warranty will be void.Looking at the shape of the tang ( above ) it's hard to see how that could happen unless the is a real problem with how the handle formed on yours.
I would contact the company
