I used to live in the NF, and wild camped there on a regular basis on the strict understanding that although it wasn't illegal, it wasn't legal either, it was a civil matter of trespass. This might have since changed since it gained NP status.
However, searching the web for wildcamping sites and campsites that allow fires and I come across this: http://www.newforestexpeditionpanel.org.uk/index.php/pg/20
It clearly states that the DoE award has come to a private agreement with the NFDC to allow wildcamping in the NF.
If the DoE award body does not discriminate applicants on grounds of age, race or colour, couldn't a DoE leader recruit from these pages for wildcamping activities/moots etc?
Any legal eagles, DoE leaders amongst us?
