I've just bought one of these from Homebase;
http://www.capitalgardens.co.uk/v3/lifestyle-5lb-wooden-handle-axe-p-12584.html
They had 6 to chose from on the shelf and having discounted 4 for various reasons (wood grain, slightly twisted head, etc) I chose one and set it to work chopping up some connifers that I had chopped down using my hatchet (Stanley Steel Master - this one).
Anyway, once the varnish had been knocked off the head I could see that it came from the factory with something resembling a very sharp edge - put it this way, I won't be running a finger down the edge!
All in all, I'm impressed. It's the same length as my arm (arm pit to curled fingers), has a decent enough edge from new, is well ballanced and at £20-£25 is half the price of a SFA.
