Neck knife and sheath

I finished his little neck knife over the weekend. It is 6" long, the handle is 3 3/4" long, the cutting edge is 2 1/2" long. Again a full tang, 01 tool steel blade, with Rosewood handle scales, epoxied to the blade. It has lovely filework on the back of the blade, which is filled with blackened epoxy. Brass pins and lanyard hole.

The leather neck sheath is 3mm Veg Tan leather, hand sewn, wet formed to the knife, dyed black and polished.

Nice work JoJo. Not seen decorative filing on the back of a blade before. Gives a very nice effect though.

That's really nice Mate, if I didn't have a necker on order from somebody else then I'd be very interested in it.

Do you think the file work might also improve it's use with a firesteel?

I do enjoy making these, particularly filework. Whether it helps with a firesteel, I am not sure, having not tried it! But I dont see why not, because the bits of steel you get with the firesteels have serration on them.

The knife arrived today, Swmbo signed for it, DOH! I am glad to say that it is worth all of the trouble I got into when she found out what it was.
