Thank you Apple for trying to bankrupt me just after Xmas :-)

That mini looks a lot like a small version of the old Cube moonraker. Has this stuff been released in France? I haven't seen anything other than the discussion in magazines about a flash based ipod.

You windows people don't know what you are missing.

Bill

Do you think it's worth it, or should you get the normal 20 gb one?

Both these were announced today at the expo in San Fransisco by Steve Jobs. I have a link witch I will post later for the full specs of the Mini. I am just about to upgrade my PC motherboard, memory and graphics card. Now looks like I will be updating the monitor too, to something that has twin DVI input so I can have my very first Mac :D with a bit more memory it should handle PS work :D

It does a bit Bill although still a lot smaller than even that and cheaper

Check out the Apple web site link above for full details. Also check out those Mac web site links I posted before as they all have info. I believe they are shipping right away (in US not sure about Europe). I bet the iPod shuffle will sell like crazy to existing iPod owners as well.

Jake, it is really a different beast. It has no display and a 512MB or 1GB capacity. Really, if you are happy to choose the tracks on your Mac or PC and download that to the flash iPod Shuffle with 250 songs it gives good play time. The full iPod gives you huge capacity for thousands of songs, ability to organise, select etc without the need for a computer once it is on the iPod.

I think I will be happier carrying one of these as it is way lighter and if it gets lost nicked or damaged I will not have to cry so hard and so I will use it a lot more. With the splash proof sports case and lanyard it is well suited to carrying outdoors. And for longer use I am sure it will charge quickly from a solar charger like the Solio etc.

It is only just announced so no user reviews etc. I just love the idea of mixing up a playlist on iTunes then simply plugging the iPod Shuffle into a USB slot on my mac and it is uploaded quickly and away I go.... And I can afford it too :-)

I looked at the links properly now. The mini has an 80gig Hard drive and you can have it bluetooth and superdrive. So a tiny box with cordless mouse and keyboard only plugged into a cinema display that would be cool as....... well I'm not allowed to type what it would be as cool as.

Fantastic. Apple shares trippled last year I can't see them coming down anytime soon.

Cheers moonraker,

I hope they're available in the UK, as it will be perfect for my kinda price range!
