Nothing too major or life changing but I fettled the following - Hozelock fitting compliable Water butt tap , drilled out a spare cap for the NATO jerry can and now have a little tap so I don't have to glug-glug-glug waste water unnecessarily.

The cap can be taken off and replaced with a standard cap for safe storage & transport so it doesn't break off.

Thinking of taking another jerry can and connecting a hose between the two with a sawyer water filter in line. Fill up the " dirty " can , connect the sawyer and let gravity drip purify it into the clean can with the tap.

Like I said , nothing amazing or life changing but I'm kinda surprised no-one has produced a purpose built one.

Just sharing.

I did buy a couple of the very swish Scepter jerry cans a while back - they definitely are an upgrade to the design in many ways but carry a heavy price tag - The NATO ones can be picked up really cheaply if one keeps their eye on FB Market place - I picked up 5 the other day for £20.

A Little harder to modify or improve but ubiquitous and very nearly bombproof.

How does the air get in to replace the water ? The only waterbutt's I know of have enough venting at the lid that it's not an issue.....so they don't blow up in the sunshine too.

Not entirely sure what you mean Toddy - The NATO water cans have two openings - the main larger one and a tiny 15mm one to the rear that can be removed or unscrewed which would let air in. You can see it on the photo.

It was the squeezy bottle sort of thing :)
You can squirt/pour out, but you need to let air in to fill the gap, and taps are one way valves.

Mr Amazon sell water bladders very cheap, I’ve several, 5 & 10 litre bags, those could be an option for the sawyer filter, roll up and put away when not required, just a thought.
