Notwithstanding the newly commissioned accompanying score, that works very well even if of a certain agenda, I found it a truly moving and indeed sobering documentary when considering keeping warm without radiant heat - read fire. No wonder walrus is eaten raw and while the blood runs hot.

And don't you just love that moment within the igloo when the cameraman catches a priceless smile from mother & child that transcends so much??

Can't see the BBC stuff from here but the name sounds familiar. Must have seen it in school.

The next thing to do is to holiday in Vancouver and spend 2 days in the University of British Columbia Museum of Anthropology.
In the drawers beneath the full-sized Inuit skin kayak, you will find all the spears and hunting/fishing gear they use.
Just think: bushcraft without wood. What little wood they did find was washed ashore from who knows where.

Great thanks, hoodoo. Has been many decades since I have seen this. Inuit survivorship was no end of mystery to white explorers.
There are no records of who starved, who died, only the stories and knowledge among those who lived.
Second-guessing their methods will get you killed. That has been tested many times.
