Hi guys n girls. I've been after a Nessie for a while now so bit the bullet and had one made in RWL34 What do you think.

Yeah.....
You see, Nessmuk used a folder for carving.
The shape of this blade is fantastic to dress animals and cut meat.
Internet says he invented this shape, but Butchers knives have had this shape ( albeit longer blade) for centuries.
Also there is an indication he used the wide area to eat with.
He had a 'trinity' of bladed implements on his nature jaunts. A folder, this knife and an axe.

This fixed blade to do animals
Axe to chop.
I would have loved to see all his original equipment, and learn how he used it. I think it would be an eye opener.

I know it is not 'bushcraft' but you should try your beautiful knife on some meat. Plus chicken, or maybe a turkey?

I know it’s not a very bushcrafty thing to say (putting it very mildly) but I made a couple a while back and they’re great knives for cutting pizza etc I’m honestly not saying that in a derogatory way but the shape seems to lend itself to that sort of use as well as butchery. That is a very nice knife you’ve landed yourself there by the way and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it for many years to come, they’re really handy knifes in the kitchen

If you guys want to buy superb kitchen stuff, at a decent price point, check out a company called Nisbets.
UK company. The knife that is the butchers knife/ origin of the Nessmuk, a good example is a' Victorinox Butchers knife', just search on that.

I consider myself to be computationally retarded so my terminology is most likely wrong but when I click on the link I get a viglink heading and a page of adverts. Could just as easily be an issue with my phone as your link I suppose so no don’t delete anything on my say so. I was just trying to let you know there could be an issue

What I did was to find the page of that item, right click then paste it...
I was in the Nisbets UK site ( they are on my 'Favourites' I like that company) so did not go through some weird Asian porn site....
Maybe because I am outside UK ( non UK IP address? )?
When I clicked on it I was redirected to some US site selling the same site.
I removed the link.

Janne, your info is perfectly correct and the Nessmuk may well excel in the kitchen and on the butchers table. Having borrowed a friends a while back, i just found it to be a good all rounder and enjoyed using it. I'm sure you know the original nessmuk had a thin blade, mine has a thick ish blade which makes it great for chopping as well as other bushy tasks imho. Its just my preference, i like how it handles i enjoy using it.... And thats it.
I've got a couple of nessmuk style knives and they are just nice to use. Great for butchery but they function well for many normal knife tasks too.
True they aren't great carvers....but I don't do a lot of carving lol
Spoons are too easy to carry and I can never see myself needing a net making needle in an emergency lol
A nessmuk will make a pot hanger or a tent peg as well as any knife
To me it looks as though it could be useful 'green woodworking' knife - sort of half way between a billhook and a standard knife (if there is such a thing!). I'd quite like to try one for snedding hazel branches.
Just got the pictures to enlarge. I like the way the handle is offset from the centre line, rather like the Canadian belt knife. When you're working with wood, I found that sort of handle prevents knuckles coming into contact with flat sections of logs, batons, bark, and other hard surfaces.
