I bought a new axe for £10 from the local market stall a year ago, since then I've replaced the handle on it once (exact same size to original) and made a sheath for it. But I was wondering if the Axe head weight is matched with the handle length. The axe head has stamped on it 2 1/4lb and the overall length is of the head and handle is 18".

What are your thoughts ?

I'm considering getting the Outdoor Axe - woodlore sell considering its a huge weight saving, with approx same size handle.

coulodn't say whether or not the head weight/handle length suit each other or not, i think that all comes down to intended purpose and personal preference, not much use an a answer i know, sorry.

i do like the sheath idea though, having it just laced together so that you can open it up to use as a strop is pretty neat.

nice bears too!

If you like to use your axe with pleasure, and it has a good bite, then it's oke.
(even when people say that the handle and head don't match )
Don't bother what they say if it works for you!
