MSR groundhog stakes and copies

I bought a few MSR ground hog stakes / pegs for my new tarp a while back and i am considering getting a few more.


Has anyone on here tried the Chinese copies? Do they match up to the quality of the MSR's or are they using a library photo of the genuine ones? In some circumstances?

This type of thing..

(I notice the lack of holes, cord loops on some versions,) suppose it's no big thing BUT..

I saw Karrimor's version in Sports Direct the other day, not a very well finished product ! A bit of filing wouldn't have gone amiss !

I can get by with my other pegs but I just wanna know if for the sake of a bit of waiting ( for the shipping time from China ) do I get more pegs for my pounds ? Or just cheap and nasty stuff?

I've read mixed reviews on other forums !

I got some blue ones by Highlander and fleabay. They are every bit as good as the Alpkit ones I got in the sale. They were also the cheapest I could find at the time- including those shipping from China. I seen to remember mine were £4 delivered, but that was a few months ago now.

Cleats have some good pegs at reasonable prices - http://www.cleats.co.uk/home/default.asp - scroll down to find them. I particularly like their Ti Spears, although the blue Y pegs look more like what you are looking for.

I've used the Alpkit ones with good effect, they'll be the same as the Chinese ones for sure

Have a look on the Snugpak website they have an almost identical peg that they provide with there tents.
