Yesterday myself and the better half went for a walk around the lily ponds Pembrokeshire. We noticed that all the ash trees had a mottled appearance to the bark ( see picture) never seen this before and wandered if anyone else has encountered this and what causes it? Also does this pattern transfer to the wood underneath, like spalting? Many thanks
