Found on the floor in mixed deciduous woodland.

... well there was a mummy moth and a daddy moth and they loved each other very much...

I'd say a Hawk-moth but as to which species I can only guess, looks like a lime but I doubt it is .....

Serious questions, do you think its been disturbed and fell there or did you uncover it, what trees and plants is it nearest to, is the area wet, dry, what are you wearing right now?

I just disturbed the leaf litter and there 'twas. I didn't pay much attention to anything else because I was tracking a Charlie and only stopped to take the snap. I did cover it back up nice and snug. I'm currently wearing my Johnny Cash T-shirt, armani jeans and my two-tone Paul wellers. I also have a possibles pouch in my pocket with Golden Virginia written on the side.
