I live in Yesil Uzumlu (near Fethiye) in Turkey and last weekend we had our annual Morel Mushroom Festival. During the 3 days of the fest there were lectures by Turkish, English, Irish & Danish experts (in Turkish & English), mushroom hunts, cookery demonstrations (using morels) + local arts & crafts & concerts on each of the 3 nights.

Here are some pictures from a mushroom hunt and the festival itself.

You could buy morel pancakes for £1.50 and morels for £20 a kilo - we have had a good season for mushrooms this year.

Anyone knows how this compares to UK prices for morels???

Hi Mafro,

I am no cooking expert but the locals were cooking morel gozleme which is referred to as Turkish pancake as the final result is similar put at the start it is more like a very thin pastry about 2' across and is cooked on a metal plate heated by wood underneath.
Bill O'Dea (Ireland) & Daniel Butler (England) who were 2 of the experts giving talks made a beef stroganoff using morels. On the first day the visitors were given Morel soup. There were other cooking demos but I did not attend them.
