Got a craft stall to run at the end of the month, so spent the entireity of my day off today in the shed.
The fruits of my labours:
2 more spoons from a bit of spalted larch. Still got more of this left.
3 elder whistles, left rustic and uncoated
Some coasters, made of redwood, finished with walnut oil, which seems to make them go pink
A bit of burl, from a cedar I think, looking rather mammary-like from this angle. No treatment for this, other than carefully getting the bark off, leaving the natural smooth wood surface underneath. Dipped in hot walnut oil for a moment. Second shot is the underside. Intended as a paperweight or just a bit of decorative wood.
Two small boards, lime on the left, plane/lacewood on the right.
Two more. Spalted ash to the left, American ash to the right.
And another, slightly larger. This one is walnut.
Some keyring fobs, needing holes drilled in them, from yew.
Lastly, my favourite, a big spinning top, made from grey poplar.
Here it is in action. There's something very satisfying about a spinning top
Also made an oak chopping block, but I'd put the camera away by then.
All good progress. Need to make more coasters, and another spinning top, or maybe two...
