Just some Photo's of a thumbstick, a knife and an axe handle i made recently, all finished in tru oil. The Axe head is a Sandvik one, and the handle is from Oak the thumbstick was made from scratch, and the Knife was made from an old chisel, and a supply of oak burl wood i have, and ash, with a leather spacer.

The original axe handle was splitting, and with its last cut it roughed out its replacement. The shape just follows the grain of the branch i used, it seems a bit too curved when you first use it, and it is slightly longer than the original but it actually allows you to get a lot more power into the chop and seems to be a good functional axe once again. It takes an edge well. I have some leather i am going to add, and i am practicing engraving at the moment to give it a try. I have just done a bit on a gun stock of mine today and it came out okay. Had a very large ash tree felled in the garden, and a huge oak fell a few weeks later taking out one of our TPO Yew tree's stripping all of once side of branches, and the yew tree still lives on. I am just trying to make best use of the branches and such as apposed to going straight to the shops or the timber shed. Its fun transforming something from a branch to a functional item.

Lovely work. I look at that thumb stick and think that it's made to have some elastic strapped to it and turned into a catty as well.
