In the main i'm a lurker on these boards, post everynow and then but I've decided to be a touch cheeky and let you know about this foolishness I have managed to become involved in.
On July 22nd, 200 cars will leave Hyde Park as the 2006 Mongol Rally commences. Their destination is more than three weeks and nearly 10000 miles away, in Outer Mongolia. I shall be driving one of those cars - a 1989 Fiat Panda. Yes, it's a stupid thing to do. The complete list of reasons for this is lost in the mists of alcohol, but one of them is certainly to raise money for good causes.
With this in mind, I'd like to refer you to my fundraising page, where you can donate a little or a lot to the good work of the Cambridge Mongolian Disaster Appeal.

In case you wondered, this is not one of those free holidays for the middle classes masquerading as a charitable event - my co-driver and I are footing the bill for all expenses, and every penny raised will go to the event's nominated charities.
We're also on the lookout for free/heavily discounted kit. Our vehicle is going to be acting as a12 foot long mobile advertising board which is travelling through a dozen countries taking part in an event which will have media coverage via national TV and newspapers so we're happy to plaster our car with logos in return. I've also got confirmation of at least 2 publications in the UK that are doing dedicated articles on us and we've got a few more possibles in the pipeline.
If it's of any interest, we're blogging the whole process and journey:
