i saw a european mink by the river the other day. it was not shy as was next to a school - used to people, it came up to my feet and stared at me from a few feet for several minutes.

these animals escaped from mink farms i think and populated britan. apparently they are popular where i saw one. its the best piece of wildlife ive seen.

also saw a grey heron that day. and met a man that found big cat foot prints in wales (says he has a photo).

They're aggressive little sods. My brother-in-law was fishing on the Wear earliest tis year and witnessed a mother and several kits walk right passed him like he didn't exist, then the female turned and hissed at him.
I've seen them - but only briefly - on the Langdale beck between Chapel Stile and Skelwith Bridge in Cumbria.
