MemoryMap for iPhone/iPad

This has been out a while but I have just found it, so I thought I would share in case someone else found it usefull. This is MemoryMap iPhone / iPad version of their great PC mapping software.It works with IOS 4.x as well, so can run in the background; I have not upgraded yet so have not tried this feature. I have installed the free version this evening & it looks pretty good. I loaded up a variety of maps that I have:

- all the local 1:25K OS maps
- a large 557 Mb 1:50K map of all of the UK south of the midlands
(this did not load on the car PC with 512Mb RAM, so I am dead impressed)

The free version lets you add waypoints & seems to let you do routes as well; will have to look into that at the weekend. There is a paid version that does more. I have not tried linking it to my PC version yet so am not sure that it will upload/download routes etc... like I used to do on my old HTC Windows Mobile. My PC version is a few years old now, so I may need to update it. The maps are also up to 5 years old in some cases but it did not have any problem reading them.

So far I am pretty impressed & happy that I have 1:25k OS maps on my mobile again....

I'll let you know after this weekend, I have the paid version of memory map, and it uploaded all my maps from my pc with no problem to my iphone 4, I'm still figuring out all that it does, but I've been impressed so far.

I only put it on this evening so will need to have a good play with it to see how good it is in the field, if you can upload/download routes, POIs etc... but so far it looks very good. I will look into what you get from the paid version but initial search results say the free one is good enough. It will be interesting to see what it's like in the long term.

With the free version you can't load maps from the PC whereas you can with the paid for app, I have it on my 3gs and it's a cracking piece of kit
