Hi,

I'm looking for some advice regarding buying a new rucksack.I need something to carry shooting kit plus water, plus food and cooking equipment. I'm guessing slightly more than a day sac but not a 3 day sac. Would like it to be tough, as water resistant as possible. Easy to pack with multiple compartments. I don't want a pure top loader as I find it a pain to hook everything out just to get at one item.

Thinking about Maxpedition Condor, Pygmy Falcon or Camekbak Motherlode.

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Motherlode is good but a tad heavy. The 'second edition' had a better pocket arrangement on the front and made from 1000D fabric. The newer ones are mostly made of 500D, this means it's as near as abrasive resistant as the 1000D but lighter. My main dislike, and it's a personal thing, is that the motherlode has the weight sitting further away from the back. I bought one of here recently but have sold it on because of this. There's lots of compartments to put smaller items in and sort stuff. They're bombproof but v expensive new.

Have a look at the 5.11 Rush 12 or 24 - I have a Rush 12 which replaced a Maxped PFII and I much prefer the 5.11 - a really great bit of kit. It needs a waist belt in my opinion - it has loops to add one, but isn't supplied with a belt.
