Hi Guys,
i don't know if any body can help me, but i've had a pair of matterhorn boots for about 6 years . To be fair they are worn constantly between oct - april, but the welt around the ball of my foot on both boots has cracked through and now let in water. The soles seem ok and the uppers get more comfortable every time i wear them. I've tried several shoe repairers and cobblers in my area and none of them reckon they can be repaired. I've also tried pouring glue into the cracks, but to no avail.
Any suggestions on how to repair them? They are a lovely boot (and too expensive to just cast out).
Cheers Guys

Hmmm, thats frustrating,
I'd go with the "contact the manufacturers" first off and see what they say.
I thought you were going to mention the problem that I have with mine, the soles keep coming unglued - its no biggie, I just keep a tube of evostick handy to squeeze into the gap once they've dried out.

Great boots but if they leak - they'll be worse than useless.

Is it the leather or the sole itelf that has cracked? If it's the leather it's good night, most coblers will only do a retread as removing the entire sole will cause the shoe as a hole to lose shape as this is put on with a last (wooden foot) inside to get the correct shape. Being a reputable manufacturer it'd drop them a line and ask them for advice. The least they could do is recommend a company that can do the work for you :)

Agreed - my (issued) matterhorns are going strong after 11 years and, with a sewn on, as opposed to a glued on sole, I expect a similar amount of time from them again. I agree with those that say to contact the company and possibly Alt-berg (just up the road from me!) to see about getting them refurbished.

Good luck - they're a good boot and I understand your concern.
