Nipped down to the coast after work this evening. Bad timing, 'cos I forgot to check the tides, so I arrived just before high tide. Still, managed to get a bit of marsh samphire aka glasswork, relatively early shoots.
Lovely. Got a small bowlful before the tide came in altogether, got it home, cleaned it up (chopped off the roots and woody bits), gave it a rinse in some cold water, and stuck it in a roll with some bacon and tomato. Gorgeous. The crisp salty bite goes really well with the bacon.
I'll be back for more, as it is hugely abundant. And free!
