Lots of work though. For many winters, when I was younger, much younger, and stronger, I cut and split all of my firewood with a crosscut saw and an axe. I still have my crosscut saw. The old man I bought it from had had it 60 years, he got it from his step-father who had had it many years before that, and now I've had it 31 years. I paid $15 for it, and at more than 100 years old it's still a good saw. To have spent a day in the forest, processing wood entirely by hand, does cause a fellow to sleep quite soundly.
