Well I was a bit miffed this morning so I decided to vent my frustrations on a bit of wood.

This time the challenge was to make another axe handle up with out any power tools.

It was a lovely morning and afternoon and I got on quite quickly.

In its raw state. This bit of stock wood was a middle brace of a large opening table. ( im 90% positive its beech)

I drew the shape free hand hence its a bit untidy

To get the shape I made a series of cuts along the length stopping just short of the line, next each section was chiseled out.

With a plane and a rasp and a bit of 80 grit sandpaper it was time to get shaping.

Now I have left the both ends with plenty of spare wood on and they will be the next areas0 to shape.

All the best

Craig
