There's some fields down the road from me where many people (including myself) walk their dogs. I think they're technically private property but they're well used and there aren't any notices up.

Took the dog out today and stumbled across an area where some youths had obviously had a party. It was strewn with loads of bottles, cans, general litter and the remains of a fire. I don't mind people having parties in the middle of a field, not even that worried about them lighting fires (it was obvious they hadn't done a very good job - trying to burn birch and it was mostly still there) but why leave all the little strewn about? For one thing, the broken glass isn't very nice for dog's paws.

Fortunately, the idiots had either nicked or just driven a moped down there and left the rear numberplate behind (11-reg!!). It's now in the possession of the police

I wonder why you asume it was youth. I hav eseen many mnay older people who litter atrociously.

My two lads always bring their litter home - I just wish they would keep their rooms as tidy

agreed, As a youth worker i fight a loosing battle with people blaming the youth, when often its not.. my local field constantly has beer cans over it, and ive seen adults with very young children just leave entire picnic sites with half eaten food!

i find dog owners the worst offenders for litter, the amount of people who bag and then throw into bushes or in gutters dog mess, not to mention the ones who just leave it!

Anyone who leaves rubbish around in the woods, fields, or wherever should be..... told off sharply!

At the local Country park I Volunteer at, we have had some issues. We cut down the trees in winter and leave to season over the summer ready to be turned into fire wood.

The local youngsters decided to help themselves and have a huge fire (on several occasions). They got through 5 trailer loads (big trailer) of timber and the pile of wood for fencing and other bits. So we put up fencing and a gate to make it look like it's a private area.

So they set fire to the gate, as in they had the fire directly beneath it! They also managed to remove the fence posts. They were in deep down and were the big posts. We found remain of a tent, a gas powered camping stove and a lot of melted glass and beer cars

Not content with this they also set fire to a marquee

It makes me sick too, I live in a built up area and do enjoy walking round the small pockets of 'countryside' like the nature reserves and country parks but alas at every one of them there are always people who litter or pick their dogs do do's up in a bag and then hang the bag in a tree (surely the hard bit is done). I pick up any litter I see and put it in one of the many bins people cant be bothered to use, as do lots of other decent people. I have noticed that a lot of the culprits are youths (Im not stereotyping just saying what Ive seen) but also some offenders are those you would least expect (like that little old lady walking her dog), makes me want to pick up their litter and put it through their letterbox......Grrrrrrrrrr! Rant over.
