I've done up a couple dozen, mostly from new ($50) and used ($5) farrier's hoof trimming crooked knives.
I prefer the common 'J' profile that is very popular as a main tool
by all the Pacific Northwest Native carving community and many others, like myself.
Big full sweeps are of much less usefulness than I expected.
I buy adze blades and some knife blades from Kestrel. North Bay Forge is also supposed to have good steel.
Here are examples of common shapes and sizes. A Kestrel 'C' will last a lifetime.
