the recurve on my kuk is very very blunt (over 1mm thick :yikes: ). I've been doing a bit of work on it with a stone for doing grass hooks but it's hard slow work. Is there any other way to get this bit sharpe?
A small belt grinder really speeds things up, but otherwise it's just lots of work with that garden hone for profiling, followed by emery paper wrapped around a broom handle. Once they're sharp, though it's easy to keep them that way with just stropping.
