Hi All,
My first post so hope it's on the mark:
I'm keen to make a Swedish M90 Smock - I'm a big ex-second row rugby player so finding one in my size is pretty much impossible, so DIY is the only way.
eBay has some options but I'm keen to see if anyone has links to suppliers of the actual material?
For those who've not seen it, M90 is a splinter-style camouflage that's very impactful on the eye & pretty cool overall.
A rip-stop version would be prefered but I'd be grateful for any links of leads you've got.
I'll happily feedback what I discover too.
Here's a glimpse of what it looks like.

Thanks for any leads in advance.
Happy Trails,
Dai

:thankyou:

http://www.recon.se/ used to sell it, but appears to be out (send them an email anyway, they may have it anyway, and is a dependable supplier). Other links a quick google -- https://www.google.se/search?q=m90+tyg&oq=m90+tyg -- yielded:

http://www.rodastjarnan.com/kamouflage-och-maskering/m90-kamouflage-tyg-lopmeter-18717
http://surpluss.se/webshop/klader/tyg/m90-tyg_produkt

But I also think that the m90 jacket is produced in some rather "troll-like" sizes: at least I have seen some rather oversize lads wearing them. The Swedish military system is height & weight, supposedly works ok (for boots they use a mm system, IIRC).

Thanks for the leads. I checked some out last night but this really helps.
Hard to find the bigger sizes in surplus stores I've always found.
Also converting SE military sizes to UK is tricky as they seem to be height/weight driven, whereas we so dimensions only. The little differences are always fun :)
I think you hit the nail on the head though - searching in English isn't going to get as many results as in Svenska so I need to adapt my approach a bit.
(Having just reactivated my BCUK account, I'm also just finding my way around again so apols is replies are delayed - Not got the permissions back yet).
Tack så mycket for the help. Will let you all know how it goes.
Cheers,
Dai

Since all you need is your length and weight in cm and kg it should be simple of figure out the correct size

True, and as I posted in the first message, I'm a big feller so shopping by "weight" is not easy, hence looking for fabric to make it here.

Also with the different measurement methods, it's like measuring a litre by degrees C from this end. Like cooking a stew & wanting a "3kg pot".

Just different :)

why not speak to one of the companies that make them

Depends if he wants just a garment in the pattern -- there is a desert version too -- or an actual m90 jacket. If it did not scream WALT to wear it here[1] I would consider the pants (I personally do not like short jackets in the outdoors).

Of course, rumor has it that all the cool guys -- spec ops, etc -- are wearing even neater, cooler garments (but probably in the same camo pattern).

[1] The local term is MÖP, short for Militarilly Overinterested Person.

Actually I like the look of both desert & the green patterns.

As for the Walt/MOP side of it, well I did my time & trust surplus kit from that experience. Am sure there is better "less-green" kit about but to be frank, I'd rather pay less for something I know I can trust. (Hadn't heard the MOP reference before. Thanks for the heads up).

And as far as the cool gear goes, I'm a big lump nowadays so there's no confusing me with those bearded fellows of the night... Haha.

But, that said, it's still a very cool looking pattern, so looking forward to getting some fabric in the summer. Think I'll use the same pattern I had to make Zoot tops from old parachutes with. (Would add an image but button's not available)

Old classics never die...
