Knew I'd regret being in Thailand and not eating some insects so tried a few at a local market stall. Was planning on starting with a grub but was handed a cockroach. In for a penny etc. and there were some Australians watching so I ate it. It was then followed by a grasshopper/locust and some other beetle thing. I don't have the greatest sense of taste but from what I could tell, the flavour was not unpleasant. Quite bland in a nutty sort of way. The texture was like chewing prawn tails (not unsurprisingly) without the fishy taste. Not sure I'd manage a whole meal of them, although certainly nothing to be frightened of

I tried June bugs while on a trip to the woods. When asked what did they taste like, the only thing I could compare them to was peanut butter.
