Looking for Glasgow-based Wild Campers

Hi all,

I currently go on the odd wild camping overnighter with a mate but unfortunately we always end up going only once or twice a year due to work restraints; just not often enough I reckon. I've been to Glenashdale and Loch Garbad on the Isle of Arran twice and a few local stays to practice bushcraft skills and the like. I particularly enjoy navigating off of trails before reaching camp, and although I have a tent I prefer a medium-weight setup with a hammock and tarp or a lightweight kit with bivi and tarp.

In any case, I'm looking for someone to go on 1/2 night trips to areas around Scotland. I don't drive so I'm not bothered whether you drive or not as I'm used to getting transport and whatnot. I suppose the only prequisites are that I'd prefer to trek around with someone close to my own age (21-29 or so) and have to be fit enough to go off the beaten track regardless of weather.

I'm based in Glasgow so if you're interested or know someone who might be then be sure to let me know.

Regards,

Zen

Hey Zen,

Myself and few of my buddies are doing overnighters from time to time, we usually do hikes that are quite exhaustive for unexperienced folks, there's a plan to go to Arran and then to Ireland around July(once the guy from our team returns from Apennines). I guess i'm the youngest in the team - 30 almost:) but there are few guys ~40 all experienced and some of them professional climbers/alpinists. If you don't mind foreigners than just drop me a PM.

all the best,
Simon

I'd be well up for this im from Glasgow I'm 27 I work for myself and would be able to go when ever as long as I got enough notice. I always travel with a one man tent I don't have a tarp and hammock but I like my wee set up.

I'd be up for a hike or a bit of camping.
Trying to get my mates out camping is becoming a pain, their all too use to their home comforts.
If anyone is heading out let me know and I'll try and make it.
(Also in the Glasgow area)

Hi,

im quite into my kayak or canoe camping and always looking to get away for odd over nighters. Have quite a bit of experience on the water and own a sea kayak and a Canadian canoe. So if you have a kayak and would like to join for a trip then let me know, or if you are boatless but would like to try canoe camping I'm more than happy to bring the Canadian. Have done quite a few trips around Scotland on sea and lochs.
It's always difficult to get my boating friends to commit to overnighters wildcamping.

Drop me a message if your interested.

Steve
