Hello,
Been planing making my first bow (a fibreglass laminated recurved bow) for a while now and think I got shape and construction understanding well enough for a test.

But I still cant decide (to little knowledge ; ) on which wood I should use.
The woods I have access to is pine, birch, elm, beech, cherry and oak.
If I think right a oak + beech or elm lamination should be a good.

Also another question I might ask when I’m at it.
I have both solid (right term?) wood and veneer and been thinking if it’s best to either cut say 4mm thick solid wood or use 2 strips of 2mm veneer to make up the 4mm?
I’m asking because using veneer would make it alot easier to get nice and straight grain on the wood.

As always I’m open for any help, tips, critique regarding this even if I don’t directly ask for it. ;)

Thank you very much for taking the time to read and hopefully reply.
