The Rainy Side of the Lakes.
I'm hoping to go to Loch Morar soon and I'd like to take my hammock with me.

Apart from the islands, are there many places to actually hang a hammock, or would I be better off taking my tent?

Cheers, Michael.

Plenty of hammock opportunity there. If you are on the water though it can be pretty mental when the wind picks up. What a place though, it's definately on my 'must go back there' list :)

I travel past the Loch frequently and I've never thought there was much hammocking opportunities but I hasten to add I haven't been up its full reach. The aerial view on the OS Map service suggests some to the west, it looks like a lot of plantation has been cut down. I understand you can walk across from Loch Morar to Loch Nevis having arranged a boat from Mallaig to pick you up.

Yes I guess as I kayaked around from arisaig up loch Nevis and carted the boat over to morar I may well have been in the densely wooded area. I had a tent but had thought to myself a hammock would have been a god send on my last night at morar.
