Hi ho.

No paddling this weekend so reckon I'll be chomping at the bit by next.
No plans(as usual  ), just a wander and a bit of fishing. Probably swing by and tidy up the cove site a bit on the way back.

So, just on the offchance that anyone else fancied coming along....
Spare canoe available as always.

:)

Count me in Josh, had a great time there on our last trip.

Tidying up the cove will be well worth doing too, hated to see it in that mess.

Raincheck? Would love to join you but me and Mrs BF have a long weekend planned, probably on the hill. One day I will get her closer to water :)

I'm up for that Josh, I'm just back from the Moot and I'm already feeling withdrawal symptoms, if we're heading for Goil I'll bring the tent.

I agree the cove needs cleaned up as well, I'll see if I can sort out some heavy duty gloves, we'll need them.

We may need a chainsaw to get in there tho :lmao: the veg was pretty dense the last time we were there.

Hmm, did that, a few years back, really enjoyed the bike, (Hornet 600) didn't enjoy the almost pathological attempts of car owners to run me down at every opportunity. Sold the bike, bought a canoe, much happier.

Indeed.

I'm somewhat undecided whether to get a bike afterwards. But I guess the CBT will make me a better driver...

Good luck with the CBT Doc.
I enjoyed my miles aboard a fazer and while I would say that these new 600 roadbikes are about the easiest bikes out there to sling a leg over and get on with I don't think their quite midlife crisis material. Promise you won't do anything rash before you've taken the wee zxr round the trossachs and at least gotton on speaking terms with your inner hooligan. :D

Anytime Bigfoot. :)

Anyone who wants to make a call on when to put in on friday just shout out. I'm easy.
....mind you if we're hitting the cove it doesn't really matter when we all arrive.

Hmmm, just back from my hols this morning and I'm asking for a pass out already, wish me luck.

Need to check the holiday situation at work too on Tuesday.

EDIT:

Meant to say also, are we gonna try and do the Sheil trip proper some time soon ? Did I see a mention of Sween again, I'll be up for that too.

Since it appears to be the usual suspects signing up I should point out that I'm not fussed where we go. If you're going to be playing the cat card and want to make the most of it feel free to name a put-in.
Like the others I'd like to get back and see yon camp back on the go but if you're traipsing up and fancy visiting somewhere else....

A good chunk of why I stuck a post up was because I figured you'd be just back and Stephen's just been at the moot. Might not fancy...
So much for that theory.
Stuart I knew would be there. He's got it bad! :D

Just spied the cross-post and yeah, I'd like to get back to Loch Sween while there's light. As nice as it was in winter there's only so far you can wander with six hours of daylight.

I might have a wee problem guys. I decided to stick one of my Flexcut chisels into my left index finger on Sunday and I've done a bad thing.

Went to the Royal yesterday as I can't bend my finger at all, I've to go back this morning to see a hand specialist and probably have some surgery. I should still be ok for the weekend though :D

Not wishing to hijack the thread but is there any future, in planning a trip up your way for the weekend of October 15/16/17 ?
Thats the next time I get a full weekend off this year.I'm not sure if it's going to be getting a bit late in the year, as far as daylight goes?

Oh nay luck Stuart, that's a drag. They're unforgiving little chisels those.
I'll drive at the weekend. Give your hand a bit more of a rest.

Depends what your planning. You've still got 11 hours or so in october.

The mix of wilder weather and lack of light certainly changes the trips I do in the winter. A few hours of wind can trash the day much easier than in the summer, you can't hope for a calm evening and make up the hours by paddling 'till midnight.
I'm not so keen on crossings either when the water gets cold. Not that I'd be planning on going for a swim but it's on my mind at times.

On the flipside the middle of october is autumnul bliss so what you do get will be very nice indeed. Personaly I'd go for it. :)

Pore over some maps of the other stretches of water nearby. When we went to Sween last year we had a few options lined up in case we got there and it was wild.

Thanks for the kind words guys, that's me back from the hospital.

I'd completely severed both tendons in my finger, those flexcuts are sharp :) My blood pressure was high so they couldn't give me a general anesthetic just a local one. It was interesting to watch them cutting open my finger then fixing the tendons. First time I've ever had an operation.

I've got a big plaster stookie on and a sling just now but that's to come off on Wednesday and a plastic cast fitted instead.

Shouldn't stop me paddling or driving ;)

Cheers for the offer of a glove Steve, much appreciated mate, I'll PM you my address.
